best 是 good, well 的最高级吧! 它应该表示“最好”，对不对？但有时为何又只不过表示“最”呢？譬如：I like it best. 意思是“我最喜欢它”，而不是“我最好喜欢它”。
▲若用作形容词，best 的意思是“最好的”。如：
I want to do what is best for the children. 我要做对小孩最有益的事。
也可表示“最适合的，效果最好的”等。如：
He’s the best man for the job. 他是比较适合做这项工作的人。
The best thing for you would be to forget it. 你最好是把这事儿忘了。
▲若用作副词，best 有两个基本意思：一是表示“最好”，二是表示“最”：

说明：与动词like, love, enjoy, hate, suit, know等连用表示“最”时，通常多用best，较少用most。如：

This coat suits me best. 这件衣最合我的身。
I enjoyed his first novel best . 我最喜欢他的第一部小说。
